My Story: From Struggles to Strength, and Why I Coach Today

No filters. Just my truth.

Coach Yomaira

Coaching transformed my life, and now it’s my calling to help others.

Throughout my life, I’ve embraced coaching in many forms—life, financial, personal, career, and leadership—and each one has played a role in transforming me. Coaching is not just something I practice today; it’s something I have lived.

My proudest accomplishment is raising two incredible young men, now in their 20s. Alongside motherhood, I’ve spent over 20 years working with families, building a career I loved, saving and investing, and even becoming a rental property owner. Now, I’m building Healthy Love Coaching as a way to give back. I guide and support parents with school-aged children who feel financially stuck to gain clarity, create security, and move forward with confidence—without sacrificing what matters most: their families, their dreams, and their peace of mind.

Growing Up and Growing Through

I grew up in poverty and faced obstacles that could have defined me. But I learned early the power of perseverance, self-reliance, and taking small, consistent steps forward. I didn’t always know how to better my life, but I knew I wanted to. That spark carried me through the darkest seasons.

At 13, I became a mother. My child saved me, teaching me love, responsibility, and strength beyond my years. Teen mothers are not your typical teenagers—we grow up fast. By the age of 30, it felt like I had already lived a lifetime of challenges, lessons, and resilience.

In my 20s, I became a mom again. I also dropped out of school, becoming another statistic. But I wasn’t done writing my story. With the support of my loving family, I returned to school and earned my high school diploma. That decision reshaped my path.

Hard Lessons and Healing

By my late 20s, after 13 years in a relationship, I went through what I call a “paperless divorce.” That painful experience taught me about boundaries, legal rights, and the importance of personal growth and healing. I’ve since learned that healing isn’t a destination—it’s an ongoing process we’re always moving through.

I’ve faced loss, grief, and heartbreak. I’ve battled crippling anxiety and depression. But since 2010, my support system has grown stronger than ever. Coaching, exercise, and consistent financial guidance for more than a decade have helped me manage stress, care for my body and mind, and build a stronger foundation for myself and my family.

The Struggles of a Single Mom

For 14 years, I was a single mother struggling to keep a roof over our heads. I worked two part-time jobs, often overnight with no benefits, just to pay rent and bills. We lived paycheck to paycheck for years. At the same time, I spent four years commuting on weekends to college in another state, determined to earn my bachelor’s degree.

Looking back, I realize that even then—before the degrees, before the career milestones, before the property ownership—I was valuable and worthy. That’s a truth I want every parent to carry: you are already valuable, even when life feels messy and unfinished.

What I Believe

Shonda Rhimes, in her book Year of Yes, reminds us that “having it all” is a myth. Success requires trade-offs. Sometimes we miss a school event for work; sometimes we prioritize quality time over perfection. True fulfillment comes when we embrace life’s ebbs and flows, focus on what matters most, and accept that balance is not about perfection, but about choice.

I believe in the power of support systems—family, friends, mentors, professionals. Building and trusting your network creates resilience, courage, and accountability. My own journey has shown me that we’re often on our own, but we are never alone.

Why I Coach

Sharing my story is vulnerable, but I know that strength comes from honesty. Coaching transformed my life, and now it’s my calling to help others. I want parents—especially those who feel stuck or weighed down by financial stress—to know that small, consistent steps can create meaningful change.

I believe you already have the answers within you. My role as your coach is to help you unlock them, hold you accountable, and remind you that you are capable of building the life you deserve.

This is my journey. This is why I coach. And this is the hope I carry: that together, we can create a future where your dreams don’t take a back seat, but drive the life you’re meant to live.
